Purpose of Immigration Evaluations

An immigration evaluation is a structured psychosocial assessment used to document the emotional, psychological, and functional impact of migration-related experiences for legal and administrative purposes. These evaluations are commonly requested in support of immigration petitions, applications, or proceedings where psychosocial factors are relevant to legal analysis or adjudication.

The evaluation examines the individual’s history, trauma exposure, current functioning, and relevant contextual stressors, with findings presented in a clear, professional written report. Reports are prepared for use by attorneys, immigration courts, and adjudicating agencies and are tailored to the specific legal purpose of the referral.

Evaluation Process

All immigration evaluations begin with a required consultation to confirm service fit, clarify the legal purpose of the evaluation, and review timelines and scope. Once confirmed, informed consent is obtained and the evaluation process is explained in detail, including the limits of confidentiality and the intended use of the report.

The evaluation typically involves one or more structured interview sessions conducted virtually. Interviews explore psychosocial history, migration experiences, trauma exposure, and current emotional and functional impact. When available and appropriate, collateral documentation may be reviewed to support the evaluation. Following completion of the interviews, a comprehensive written report is prepared that aligns with the stated legal purpose. Reports are typically completed within 10–15 business days following the final interview session. Expedited timelines may be available for an additional fee, subject to availability.

Immigration evaluations provided through Heart & Grace Consulting are not psychotherapy and do not involve treatment, counseling, or ongoing clinical care. These services do not establish a therapist–client relationship and do not include advocacy, legal advice, or testimony. The evaluation report is prepared solely for the purpose identified at the outset.

No specific legal outcome can be guaranteed.
